Although it contains two memorable and exciting episodes- "Angel" and "Prophecy Girl", it's really mostly a collection of poor or mediocre, and really formulaic (see monster becoming a threat, monster captures/endangers someone Buffy likes or is related to, and Buffy saves the day) episodes that serve no purpose or benefit but to introduce the characters and setting.

Faith informs the Mayor, who makes her steal them and kill Skyler, then turn to Angel to seduce him and turn him back to Angelus, but fails.

Again Faith helps, but actually, Faith turns out to be the second best actor. It turns out the Mayor wants Angelus back; so when this method doesn't work he summons another demon to take Angel's soul by force.
